Perhaps, the most appealing characteristic of the Cavalier are their large, dark eyes that have what is called a "melting" expression. Small but hardy dogs, the Cavalier comes in 4 colors, Blenheim (Chestnut & white), Tri-color (White, black & tan), Black & tan, and Ruby (a solid, deep red).
 

The Cavalier has a happy, even temperament and an exuberant approach to life. They enjoy running and playing with children as much as lying curled up on the lap of its master.
 

Cavaliers are very much "people dogs" and are not happy when left alone for long periods of time. They crave the companionship of their families and in return give back warmth, affection and devotion.
