The Yorkshire Terrier is an independent dog, but a devoted companion. Despite their small size, they are more than willing to act as a guardian for their master. Average weight of a mature Yorkie is 5-7 pounds and smaller.
 

Yorkies love to play and are very curious. They are bundles of energy as puppies, though older Yorkies can be quiet and settled.
 

Grooming a Yorkie must be done a regular basis. The coat is easy to care for yet is time consuming and necessary to keep your pet healthy. The Yorkshire Terrier can easily be injured by small children - please keep this in mind if you are considering a Yorkshire Terrier.
